The Park

Montreal International Animation Film Festival | Nominee

The story is about a father who is reminded of the battlefield by his surroundings in the park, which brings him pain.

The animation uses a simple visual style with clean lines, basic patterns, and limited colors. The background is not complex, but it clearly shows the characters’ situation and helps build the atmosphere.

The story is divided into two parts: the father’s memories and reality. The memory scenes are shown from a POV perspective, so the audience can see the world through the father’s eyes. These war memories feel strong and realistic, reflecting his inner emotions.

In contrast, the reality scenes use black-and-white or faded colors to show the father’s sense of loss in the real world. Transitions between memory and reality are an important part of the animation. Visual and sound changes help the scenes switch smoothly and clearly, so the audience can always understand which state they are watching. Through both image and sound, the audience is guided to feel the father’s emotions.
